*The deadline for the MyItThings designer contest is TOMORROW!!! Please vote if you haven’t already!*
I don’t know much about it, but I just entered a design contest on MyItThings.com
You could call this my version of procrastinating on a project I don’t want to start…
Anyways. Please vote for me! I believe the top 10 user picked designers are then in a contest to have their own runway show. There is a panel of judges for the top 10 and who else but Malan is one of them!
I got this email (below) a few days ago and wanted to make sure all fashion designers are aware of this SCAM. After some research, it sounds like this has gone around to photographers and then models and now they are targeting fashion designers. I thought it sounded to good to be true, but wrote back with some questions just in case it was legitimate. After I still couldn’t get any specific details on the job, I did some deeper digging and found out about the scam…
Sara couldn’t make it to Ra’mon’s big fashion show “Eluded Love” this weekend, so I got to be the guest blogger for the Star Tribune.
Check out my review and some photos from the event here on Sara Glassman’s Stylepoints blog!
My new collection (you’ll see photos soon) is made from organic and sustainable jersey fabrics (cotton & bamboo). It only comes in white, so everything had to be hand dyed. I’ve been dying stuff for a few months now successfully and without any disasters or major clean-up jobs… well… that was until today.
Man… this week sure got away from me. I know this is last minute, but I thought I should do SOME promotion for my open studio and trunk show! Come visit my studio Sunday April 20th and get a peek at my new collection.
Yikes! I’ve been so busy working on my new collection for the Voltage fashion show tonight that I totally forgot to mention it!
Anyways, I think tickets are sold out, but I promise to get you a full recap with as many photos as I can!
For the time being, here’s a “sneak peek” at a muslin/drape for one of my new dresses:
I’ll just start off and say that I was REALLY impressed with the final collections. I love that they all have their own style and point of view. Each one was so unique that I could have easily figured out who designed each collection without ever seeing the designer.
What a drastic switch from the last episode. Loved that they finally took the designers to the MET! What a fantastic place for inspiration! I love the challenges that give the designers a choice in their inspiration rather than forcing a product placement. I also really liked that you could get a sense of each designers’ personality in the actual artwork that they picked.
I don’t know if you remember, but a while back I showed this picture of Joe board-sliding a rainbow rail and said that I was a bit chicken of it… well, I guess I should have listened to my instinct because 4 days later I was attempting the rail and now look at me:

Bats for Lashes Saw this music video at the bike film festival this weekend and loved it. So simple and so creepy...
Flickr photos! lots of photos, especially of cats.
Across the Universe I wasn't sold the first time I watched this, but then I couldn't stop thinking about it and now I'm loving it! Definitely gets you in the mood for some Beatles music.
The Office I know... I'm late to the game, but I can't get enough of The Office right now!
Nortec Collective 5 guys on laptops + 1 trumpet + 1 accoridan... Ranks at the top of my list for best live shows ever, right up there with Radiohead and Flaming Lips.
Knit Book; Basics & Beyond I want to make some hats and I use to know how to knit, but need a refresher. This is a great book that covers a lot of info and has TONS of good pictures (great to learn from).
Bamboo Fabric Store I'm trying to move my Spring '08 collection into the green by using organic and/or sustainable fabrics. I found all my new bamboo jersey fabrics here and I'm totally in love with them!
Project Runway 3 DVD I got this for Christmas and am still too scared to watch it! I've heard that I'm shown on the DVD a lot more than I was on the season... eek!
Chromeo I'm not so much into the whole 80's throwback trend, but these guys are awesome. Check out “Tenderoni” to know why.
Theo Wirth Snowboard Park I just started teaching here... great little secret in Minneapolis.
